Nah, you're absolutely right. Juri does happen to be one of the weaker characters at the moment (bottom tier, in fact). I just couldn't help myself.

That said, this game is actually surprisingly well-balanced for how many characters the game has. I consider that one of its strongest points. It's obviously not perfect, but I measure a game's balance by how many viable characters there are (viable = "could i win a tournament with this character?"), and honestly, I don't think there's a single character in this game that you couldn't win a major tournament with, as long as you were willing to put in the work.

Juri just happens to require the most of it.

I have PS+ for today and tomorrow (hooked myself up with a trial), so we could practice a little if you wanted.

Responding to this bit, I agree. Street Fighter is more about learning archetypes and knowing fundamentals than having 5000 hours longed on a character. It's why knowing how to play a fighting game gives you a chance in SFV, whereas just being unfamiliar with Guilty Gear will put you at a severe disadvantage, to the point that you will lose in seconds whenever you get a match.

Maybe Survival would be a less insufferable mode if you could just buy continues, or something that lets me start over from a safe haven level that I choose. Make it 200000 points if you have to, but throw me a goddamn bone.

Unlocked Abigail and cleared everyone's trials. Feels good to have a complete CSS again.

Running out of stuff to do in this game to hold me over until I get PS+ back, though.

I could try to beat Survival on hard and extreme, but I don't really feel like pulling my teeth out right now.

How much fight monies do you get from that?

For beating Hard, you get 10K.

For Extreme, you get 20K, which is kind of outrageous. They should give you, like, 50K.

You also get 1K for every level your character gains afterward, because your characters gain experience points as well.

What, my win rate? It could be better, but when you control for things like the hundreds of times you lose while learning new characters (which comes with the territory), I'd say having a positive win rate, albeit a small one, is pretty damn good.

Oh, I thought the LP or rank was something like elo or a skill-based ranking system.

Oh yeah, LP is basically that. It's a relatively simple system—the number of points you have is associated with a larger skill bracket (Rookie, Bronze, Super Bronze, Ultra Bronze, Silver, etc. etc. all the way up to Master), and online, you only get matched up with players who are at, one step above, or one step below your rank.

6000 is Super Gold, which is pretty okay. I'd rather have 8000 for how long I've been playing, but that still puts me within the top 5-10% of the entire playerbase. Master rank requires 30K, and this is where some of the best players in the world reside. The top-ranked online player right now has 41K.

Not as far as I'm aware, but you don't gain very many points for beating players at a lower rank than you—and if you lose, you lose a fuckton. The limit is your own capacity to continue winning and defending your spot.
