Don't know about the Wii Pad, but MP1 and 2 had pretty solid controls. Can you use a Gamecube controller? 3 was a little awkward with the motion controls and whatnot.

offtopic: ayy i was finally able to login to club nintendo. after some careful thinking, I've decided to go with the Fierce Deity jigsaw puzzle. the games don't really intrest me that much, i have 365 coins left, so i can still buy 1 game.

Metroid Prime Trilogy has some of the best FPS controls on the Wii. It's a shame we didn't get more (good) games like it.

you'll get used to it. i tried to play the original on gamecube and couldnt do it, its do-able with the wii controls.
