Make sure to loot everything once you're done making a class. But don't let the guard see you steal.

Also if you do get spotted by stealing, drop the stolen item, once the guard tells you the "don't steal last warning" and turns away from you, you can pick up the stolen item.

Another tip

Since you have the GOTY, you basically have "Tribunal" and "Bloodmoon". Don't go to those places, these are high level areas, i would recommend you max out your character before going to these places.

Magic is pretty much trash unless you're using it to glitch your stats higher. Stealth is pretty difficult despite Bethesda games usually making it easy mode. Honestly just look up which armors look cool to you and level that and long or short blade. I always liked full glass armor with the Umbra sword. Max acrobatics and athletics to run and jump better since there's not much fast-travel. Lockpick is essential, too. Tons of cool hidden stuff.

You need to level short or long blade immediately if you don't want a few hours of the shitty D20 swing-and-miss combat.

Just use whatever. Just dont pick too many pointless skills in your Major/Minor skills. Like putting two types of armour skills in.

Best advice I can give is that Morrowind is a very slow burn. You wont become some super killing god overnight. And the game wont give it to you on a silver platter like the newer games. It will make you work for it, but damn does it feel good when you make it.

It will take awhile but go find Umbra the moment you get off the ship. Yes the guy will one hit you but you can kill him with a shit load of arrows while standing safely on a rock. By killing him you get one of the best swords in the game or at least a strong one and good armor.

I don't know if you can change levels but you can use them to increase/decrease your skills, health, magic points and stamina. So in a way you can level up by using them to change those things.

What about armorer? Or could I just use console commands to repair weapons?

Yeah armorer's important. I'm sure there's a console command for repair, though.
