That happened? In all my playthroughs the AI have been really passive towards the crises.

I'm using the beta patch for 1.1. It makes it so AI no longer play catfish when one of the crisis empires starts attacking them.

In this case Tru and a fallen empire were in the unbiddens territory going around and destroying their stations and fleets.

Did I beat anyone during the test run?

No, you actually got broken into 3 different empires after losing a war to byrne. One of which ended up joining his empire, another joined up with ender, and your main one stayed independent until byrne decided he wanted everything he didn't take from you.

I think it was mainly due to bad positioning at the start. You were boxed in and couldn't really expand anywhere which let Byrne run over you because he was able to expand down his spiral arm for a bit until he hit me and tru.

Also he had more habitual planets in his territory than you.

Is there a way to determine where empires start so they all begin with equal resources/space or is it just luck of the draw?

Luck of the draw, but there might be a mod out there that changes that.

By default the galaxy is randomly generated.

They hide away doing nothing 90% of the time, but as soon as your enemy gets the SLIGHTEST amount of trouble, they attack?

It's extremely cowardice and I wish they added more things they would do.

depends on the ai personality iirc, you may have gotten unlucky with your draw of personalities that game
