How do you feel about the rumble feature in games?

Typically, if the game offers the feature, I'll leave it on ('cause apparently that's how they wanted me to play it), but I never quite understood the point of it. I guess it's supposed to help immerse you in the game by applying force feedback, or something, but more often than not, I find myself just a little bit annoyed by it. I usually spend the whole playthrough wishing I had just turned it off, but I never actually do.

I ask because I was just playing Smash 4 late last night, and the rumble in that game is fucking ridiculous if you're playing on the gamepad. My sister was in the other room trying to sleep, too, so at one point, I decided to just turn it off, because it was making so much noise.

It was like playing a different game. It felt weird, but it felt better. I think I played better, too, because I wasn't being distracted by the constant whirrr-whirrrrrrr-whirr noises.

It can be super important for feedback.  I'm working on a game right now, where players don't have a good view of what's going on, and had we not provided that feedback, the game would have been infinitely more confusing.

I used to turn it off for Halo though, because it would throw off my aim when I'm being shot at.

I turn it off in Halo because it screws up my aiming.

I have it disabled across all games. Annoying. Same with the speaker on the Dual Shock 4. Too loud.

Besides the touch pad, which most games don't even utilise, it fails to innovate in anyway. Redundant speaker and a gimmicky light bar.

I leave it on in games that dont over do it.

It's good for adding a sense of physicality. I don't rate standard rumble too highly but I find the XB1's impulse triggers to be fantastic-to the point where if my batteries get low (and so the impulse is turned off) it gets too distracting playing.

I turn it off because I like a longer battery life.

I ignore it

I turn off vibration at every turn. It's annoying and gimmicky.

I usually leave it on tbh. I like having the feedback, although it feels weird using a rumble pak. The integrated rumble in later controllers just feels right.
