I mean, English (and pretty much every other language) has instances of spelling with different possible pronunciations. Lead can be led or leed, depending on the meaning, for example. But this word, while uncommon and not that easy (I never heard of it before), seems to me like it only has one reasonable pronunciation.

Unless I'm wrong here and got my pronunciation completely wrong, in which case you are free to make fun of me now.

you were almost right, but the second "d" is actually a palato-alveolar affricate (like "j," or a soft "g"), like this

the denti-alveolar (hard "d") is how i'd expect most non-english speakers to work it out, so i can't really fault you

Sure, but that's exactly what I thought and said to myself. Just didn't know how you're supposed to spell out a soft D in letters, lol. And the alveolar and such you're using take me way back to high school when this was taught in class for Dutch. Forgotten all about it though.

Fair enough, though I never quite understood what makes typing out pronunciations so difficult for people, either. Most people don't even let you know which syllable you're supposed to stress--which is low-key the most important part.

Personally I'm 100% on board with not making every Pokémon with wings a flying type. We already have plenty of bugs with wings that aren't flying type (valcorona & haracross being two Pokémon with unique types due to not being stuck with flying)

I like to think of it as that they can fly, it's just not how they choose to fight.
