Going through my old Deviantart page. I think I may have designed my own Mega Palkia about 3 years before Megas were even a thing...

tbh Z-moves are unappealing because you're wasting an item slot because you only get a one use move from it

I just don't see me wanting to use a Snorlium Z Snorlax over Leftovers or something

I mean, you're basically taking minor residual recovery over a free OHKO.

yeah if you don't use Z-moves you'll probably be at a huge disadvantage

I hope smogon just bans them tbh

Yeah, for sure. The more and more I think about it, the more it seems like Z-moves were designed exclusively with casual players in mind, with no intent to make it balanced for competitive play or anything.

I mean, the main appeal of them seems to be the neat little animations, and that's it.

Videos like these make me happy.

It's hard to find legitimate ones, though. There are whole compilations of people reacting to shinies all over YouTube, but they're all just a bunch of soft-resetters, egg-hatchers, and people who are deliberately searching for shinies. And I'm like, who gives a fuck? Congratulations, you statistically guaranteed yourself a shiny. Which ruins the whole fun of shinies in the first place.

Way to go?

If your shiny catch wasn't just a completely random event in the wild, you're doing it wrong.

why
you could hatch infinite eggs or soft reset infinite times and statistically you would never be guaranteed to get one

nah, this is something i've learned in statistics

When dealing with two or more possible outcomes, there's a process called statistical inevitability that essentially guarantees that both outcomes will manifest if you're given infinite time to do it.

it's conceivable that you could hatch a billion eggs and never receive a shiny, or a trillion, or a googolplex, but once you start playing with infinity, then you basically guarantee that you'll receive the desired outcome, because you literally have all the time in the world to get it.

Obviously, we can't live forever, so it's technically not guaranteed, but assuming you sat there and hatched 10,000 eggs in search of a shiny, it's very unlikely that you wouldn't receive one. You can essentially boost your odds to 99.99%, especially with all this Masuda method shit, Shiny Charms, chain-fishing and whatnot.

so you say "nah" and then write a book that essentially says I'm right

the chance of you producing an example where someone hatched a million eggs and never found a shiny are slim to none

you're "right," but you're also really stretching it
