I think that's one reason why I've been so successful. I see what type my opponent has, see what Pokemon will possibly be used, and make my adjustments accordingly.

Regarding dropping out:

All right, at this point in the game, I should address the possibility of players dropping out of the tournament, and how that sort of thing will be handled.

If you have battles on record and you decide to drop out, two things could happen:
A.) Everyone who hasn't already fought you gains 2 points (as though you forfeited all future matches).
B.) Everyone who has already fought AND won against you will lose 2 points (as though you never joined the tourney).
(everyone who gained 1 point will lose that 1 point, too)

Mathematically speaking, both options represent the same thing, but I think option A makes more sense on a practical level--it just adds a little bit of procedure to it all. If you must leave the tournament, all you have to do is say so, and that you forfeit all future matches. That will be your formal confirmation.

Because what I don't want to happen is for you to leave, only for you to come back a week later, forcing me to fuck around with the numbers again. Ultimately, if you have to leave, you have to leave--you don't have to tell me anything, so that's why I came up with option B, for those who are... I don't know. Too proud to forfeit?

Either way, your name will still remain on the scoreboard if you took any part in the tournament at all--but if you drop out, your name will be ~~struckthrough~~, dulled to a bold grey, and shifted to the bottom of the queue, denoting that you're out of the tournament (while still preserving your stats).

Oh, and if someone who hasn't even battled anyone drops out, then... nothing will change. The same could be said of people with nothing but losses on their record, too, but that would be mean <.< Because it's only when points are shuffled around do things start getting messy. One of the few pitfalls of a round robin setup.

Since the cutoff date for signups has passed, there will be no replacements for any players who drop out.
