Do you really need a SSD?
And do you really need a 3TB HDD?

If you want to save money, change them both, assuming you don't have a specific purpose for them.

Yeah, for my OS.

And do you really need a 3TB HDD?

Hard drive space is always a good thing to have.

I only have a 1TB HDD, and my OS loads quickly. <30 seconds.
A HDD is perfectly fine for your OS, a SSD is not required.

What are you planning to store? Have you got a lot of media you'd prefer to save? I honestly think 3TB is overkill unless you've got a lot of media.

My desktop has an HDD as well but after getting used to my laptop's SSD I can't go back.

I have a lot of media, yeah. Games, thousands of photos, many many movies and videos.

What were the loading times on your laptop? Building a new computer with better hardware will certainly help with loading times, as I said before, I'm using a HDD and my loading times are <30 seconds. You could try just getting a HDD first, then getting a SSD later if you're unhappy with the load times.

Fair enough.

Near instantly. 5 seconds?

Well I guess if that's what you've come to expect every time. I'm fine with a anything under a minute. But if you're only fine with 5 seconds or lower you should keep the SSD. I still think you could save money by just not having it though. The performance hit is worth it if you want to save money, especially given it only happens when you turn your computer on.

That graphics card is crap.

It's enough to run Project M and Melee at 720p/60FPS. That's all I need.

Change the cpu to Intel. An i5 4460 would be better and cheaper, and you would have a better upgrade path too.

Personally, I don't think 3 tb is necessary, so I would cut that down to 1.

The money that you save from doing these things can go towards a better gpu, because that card will be outdated soon enough

I need something of an i5 2500K/AMD Phenom X4 955 or greater. Does the 4460 fit the bill?

I don't need a better GPU, though.

The 4460 would be better than those two and the 8350.

I would recommend getting a better card even if you don't think you need it now, just in case.

What would the 4460 do for me that my current CPU can't?

I'm literally only going to play Project M and SSBM on my computer at 720p/60FPS. That's it. I have a PS4 in the event that I need to play anything new.

Your current cpu, as in the 8320?

To keep it short,

AMD cpu = lots of weaker cores (in this case 8 cores)

Intel cpu = less, but stronger cores (in this case 4 cores)

Considering games only use up to 4 cores, the extra cores in amd cpus are useless. The extra cores really are only ever taken advantage of in video editing. The 4460 will give you noticeably better performance, will be more efficient (less wattage), and will run cooler.

Yeah amd and Intel use different chipsets so you'll need to pick out a different mobo.

Asrock m97 pro4 looks good.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.

4460 is not compatible with my Motherboard.
Then look for one that is compatible that's only a dual or quadcore.

As far as I'm aware you're not a music producer (and even then, cubase rarely spreads out to all four of mine) or a videographer using top-shelf movie software, so there's no benefits to be gained with 8 cores, and you'll actually lose out on peak performance.

I'd actually be surprised if the emulator you're gonna run for the gamecube games even goes dual core.

I'm just going off of what the Project M minimum requirements are.

From what I've been playing, I know I can run Arma III on low settings, CS: GO on medium (I think).

Yeah, but what about good games?

Just kidding, but it doesn't really matter because I can play modern games on my PS4.
