The ones I have are Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx, Contact Harvest and Cole Protocol. The first four I enjoyed reading but Harvest and CP I found boring and couldn't get into. So what other Halo novels are there that are worth reading? Don't list any Karen Travis ones since I know I wouldn't be able to read those. I have a few of here Star Wars books and I can't get past the first few chapters because I find them boring.

I forgot about that one. That was also a good book. It's a shame how the first four were good and then came shit.

Yeah Karen's stuff was kinda bad but I liked the forerunner trilogy.

Evolutions was good too.

Forerunner Saga is good if you like the LoTR books, though Primordium is basically just a walking tale. However, Silentium is a very good read and Cryptum isn't bad.
Broken Circle is amazing, and gives a lot of insight into the early days of the Covenant and the Schism from the POV of the Covenant- no human characters.
New Blood is good and short if you want to know what happened to the ODST guys.
Evolutions are just short stories that don't have any direct connections.

I wish they could get some really good sci-fi writers in the series. Most of the books read like mountain dew-fueled teenage action wet dreams. The forerunner trilogy was an improvement on the style, but it's still pretty bad in a lot of places.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.
I've only read the fall of reach. I enjoyed it a lot tbh

The Nylund books are trash, the Travis books are worse than Trash.

The Flood is also Trash, skip it if you've played Halo: CE.

The Greg Bear and Staten books are decent.

There was a book that came out in I want to say October? First Halo book in years that wasn't a chore to read through.
It was called Broken Circle.

There's no UNSC bravado in it at all, but if you want a better look at an earlier Covenant, give it a shot.
LITERAL SPOILER INBOUND:

Spoiler
Also it transitions to the Great Schism about halfway through the book.

Because Karen Travis is a hackjob writer that disregards things that are in the series she's doing work on.

For Star Wars I love that she thinks the Clone Army had a total of 3million clones. That's not even enough to do a single planetary war. In WW2 the US estimated the invasion of Japan would have cost around 1million causalities. That number is just or our boys. So the number of troops sent there would be around 3 million.

Does that mean we have a Clone Army?

I just pretend it's a typo and it was actually supposed to say 3 billion.

Her books are good, but just shit at sticking to a pre-established canon.

I would definetly pick up the first two K5 books if you want more info on how Jul 'Mdama and his Covenant got started up.

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.
The Kilo-5 books are an example of a good idea done badly. Still, I liked the story they were trying to tell.

The Forerunner Trilogy is an example of a bad idea done badly, then salvaged at the end. I strongly recommend Silentium, but first you'll have to struggle to stay awake through Cryptum. Skip Primordium entirely, it's complete garbage.
