I was quite upset when I found out that the game cartridges for the original pokemon games (Gold) had an internal battery.Tried to get it to work years later and the save was corrupted.

My original Xbox is a tank. It still works like a champ, although I have to hit the top of it sometimes to open the disc tray.

Twice now actually, I started a new game on the day that my nephew was born too (Coincidental) so now I've got a bunch of pokemon that are precisely as old as he is >_>rambling as usual
Emulation will preserve these games if companies don't release them digitally. Luckily a lot of Rare games are on XB1.
