Thoughts on FFXV?

The demo? Game isn't out yet.

All I know is whenever they zoom in on characters faces, the frames dip hard because there are so many damn pixels in their hair.

30fps is one thing, but having it drop below 24 (or at all in the year of our lord 2016) is annoying.

What's your thoughts on it not being turn based gameplay? Or is it gonna have some turn based gameplay?

It looks interesting, but as a FF fan since I've been a kid, I'm more than worried to the direction where the series is going. It seems they feel they have to have constant action to stay "modern", when really they don't need to at all.

Fire Emblem sticks to their formula, and FF has, I feel, strayed away from it after FF 13's bad press. But the gameplay to that was fine, just the stories and characters sucked.

I'm thinking they'll do some wrong decisions for the new Final Fantasy as well. If I wanted this action/RPG thing, I'd just play Kingdom Hearts.

I've only watched episode Duscae gameplay and I'm fairly ambivalent towards it. The visuals are nice but the world feels a little empty for how spacious it is. These sandboxes are understandably large for using Noct's abilities in combat but when free-roaming I'm wondering how engaging they'll be beyond "gorgeous views." I like that it's taking a combat approach similar to Kingdom Hearts, but until I feel the combat for myself I'll reserve judgments. Sometimes I noticed the enemy AI shuffles around too much when they could be more aggressive. I like the premise of being on a road-trip across the world, this is perfect for showcasing the vision behind the new setting, which after 8 years of development I would hope intrigues players. The only thing that intrigues me about it so far is the sequence with Leviathan, it doesn't look like the events are prompted by QTEs and it's like traversing a continually shifting Shadow of the Colossus boss.
I don't particularly care much for the characters, but I don't think it's fair to evaluate characterization completely outside of the game's context, so again I'd have to play it. None of them have really stood out to me so far from the game's presentation, however. Overall I'm withholding judgment but the content shown thus far doesn't particularly intrigue me.

Not real interested. The combat was boring and the world felt empty. I wasn't interested at all in the setting, but it was a dream world in a very small demo.

The only time it got interesting was the boss fight when you fight him the second time but even then I didn't get a good feel for the combat, just felt like it was letting me win.

FFXII combat was honestly some of the best in the series and I'm disappointed they didn't run with it.

I'll wait for some reviews to come out before buying. At this point in time I'm not excited.

since ff7, i've really despised the direction the series has gone in

i'm more into the classic cartoonish medieval fantasy stuff--not whatever weeby cyberpunk shit they're getting into these days

Too bad FFXIV is just a shadow of what Ivalice is in terms of setting. Literally the Imperial Legionaries are just the Judge Magisters with different names.

Oh yeah definitely, I wouldn't have 135 days on there if I didn't think it worked well. Although the story started to fall a bit before Heavensward, I just wish the Empire played a more prominent role instead of being something that keeps getting pushed off to the side for more FIGHT THIS AWESOME NEW DEMIGOD!

Looks damn good and Ive waited too long to be dissuaded.

Will it be fun, yes. Will it look good? Fuck yes.

My only concern, and this goes for all FF games is the story. But we'll see when we're there.
