There are different types of stars and black holes. The higher class stars have the better planets and usually aren't on your straightforward path. Black Holes just throw you many many many more light years closer to the center instead of going system to system.

Yeah but aren't the stars just painted on the skybox? Like, you can't actually go to them? With black holes, can you actually go an see the light refraction and accretion disc and actual void past the event horizon? Are the stars in the skybox calculated as to where they would be based on their actual locations, intensity and such?

For the two solar systems I've been to all the planets and moons which have life on them look just like Skyrim when it comes to vegetation.

I did too. Exploration and discovery were the only parts of this game that still kept my interest, but now it seems to be entirely pointless if most of your discoveries will be wiped. The only thing left for me is taking screenshots, but that doesn't validate spending $60. At least by taking screenshots I can archive all of my cool discoveries. I really hope this turns out to be a bug affecting several people or a server issue.

This is the last nail in the coffin for me.

The entire premise was discovering things but your discoveries don't even get saved?

Exactly, there is no point anymore. I guess they thought no one would actually get back to their starting planet, just like they thought players wouldn't run into each other.

Apparently it is most likely a bug lads.
The damage has been done already, and I have no desire to get the game anymore. And it still doesn't make up for all of this:

I don't think it would get a play from me even if it was free. As it stands they only reason I can see to play it would be to explore the procedurally generated worlds, but even then I could just download a texture pack for Minecraft and have a better looking experience with more depth.
