Do any of you have any zinc which I could have? I've found a crashed ship which I decided to use and I need zinc to fix one of the engines. I'm stuck on this zinc-less planet unless I somehow find some.

Ambitious games like this really should be kickstarted and not handled by companies like Microsoft and Sony. Hyping it up like a triple A game when it only has like 20 people working on it, and pressuring them to release it early when it clearly needed a delay, or maybe even a beta, along with a $40 price tag.

I feel sorry for the devs, really. But at least they're transparent and are interacting with the community and working on it.

Either way, I never hyped it up because I (and I'm sure anyone who's older now a days and is into video games) am a realist with games these days and understand the restrictions developers face, along with how shitty the big game companies really are. I'd still like to get it, but when the price drops and updates smooth out things.

I didn't hype the game up and I barely knew anything about it except that you fly through space and can go to other planets. I didn't even know it was releasing this month either until a friend told me the day before it launched. We had to go to 3 different Gamestops to get a copy of it.

I've been enjoying the game so far and I'm taking it pretty slow. I don't mind the grinding for resources and stuff like that and the starting star system I'm in is pretty nice.

There are some things though that I wish this game had and didn't have. Maybe they will add some more stuff in the future and I'll be down for that.

If I were to rate the game right now I'd give it a 7/10. It has its ups and downs and hopefully those downs will be addressed as the game's life cycle goes on.

Ended up buying it for gf on PC because she's into exploration games.  Aside from some screen-tearing, there's no major performance issues at 60FPS on her meh-tier comp.

But yeah, this game is just an exploration game about a guy trying to find gameplay in the middle of the universe.

I really feel like an unfair amount of hype was placed on this game, and I partially blame Sony's marketing strategy that presented it as some top notch AAA title. Yeah, Murray's claims on multiplayer are pretty questionable but this game was almost destined to get an unwarranted level of flak due to the ridiculous levels of expectations people had for it.

I think developers really need to figure out where to draw the line when advertising.

"This is an amazing game where you can explore for more than 60 hours and still find new things."
This can be advertised and still be correct.
"This is a game of limitless possibilities, go out and buy now"
Great.

I mean, I wouldnt just shift the blame on Sony, the games bland because of the developers.

People like TB and Cry just simply stopped playing because it was boring as hell

i wouldnt say its the worst game ever but the game from general consensus seems to be boring and lacking in meaningful variety in activities and mechanics

e.g, heat, radiation, toxicity functions in the same way, so does mining every metal

edit: let's say they did lie, they lied for the express purpose of getting sales, and they got your money; as a customer do you feel like you rightfully paid for the product you wanted, or would you not stand for a product not as described or advertised

I believe TB turned it off because it simply would not run at an acceptable level of performance no matter what he did. Jim Sterling and Oney have been bored to tears with the game though due to the fact that the meat of the game lacks any depth and just has you looking for materials to upgrade your timers on a bunch of samey looking color swapped planets with ps2 era visuals so you can go to other samey looking pallet swapped planets with ps2 era visuals with slightly longer timers. And you repeat said process until you reach the end of your hallway only for it to tell you good job and spawn you at the start of another hallway.

It certainly doesn't help that the animals are all made up of the same 8 or so parts in a random configuration and don't have much purpose in the game besides wandering around aimlessly like one of the animals in Starcraft from 1998. But even then Starcrafts animals were a bit more advanced because they at least had collision detection.
