Also the bigger presence of melee, the different classes of tanks, absence of attack boats/ helicopters/ rpgs/ assault rifles/ LAVs and stuff like horses, artillery, battleships, airships, larger presence of bolt-action rifles and chemical warfare make it hard to just do a reskin
Quote from: LC on May 06, 2016, 04:26:23 PMIt'll be hard to do a paintjob of a modern shooter in a WW1 setting.Aircraft for example will function completely differently due to their lack of lock on missiles and AA will have to be done via flak emplacements. Two seater planes have already been confirmed as back gunners are present meaning that you'll have to rely on your teammates to be your counter measure.So....a paint job? A plane's a plane.

Incomplete painted shit with overpriced shit dropletsTheyre gonna have to come up with lots of gadgets and such to make such a bland setting goodNothing short of a new engine can fix the current terrible engine and floaty gameplay though, unless they go back to 1.5

Every shooter is a paint job with that logic

Hopefully the open beta will leave good impressions, too. Here's hoping Rush becomes the central mode of the game and they design the maps around it.

When they actually have more than a year to develop, they actually, ya know, do different things.
After Bad Company 2Yeah, im a liiiiittle cynical but theres hardly any real gameplay of it apart from a few seconds so maybe ill be pleasantly surprised.
I'm honestly not sure why insane amounts of customization that always boils down to everything other than 5 weapons and two or three attachments for each that are actually viable seems to be in heavy demand right now. Battlefield 2 remains the best game in the series to date and all it had was an alternate unlockable primary weapon for each class.

We've had SO much since 2007 and people are just sick of them. WW1 has never really been done. You can't really blame them for being excited.

4 did it way too much (I mean, you could probably have three sniper rifles and you'd have all the major differences you can get), but the variety in sights is particularly nice to suit weapon to play style and whatnot.

Do something with the art style, or rather add one because realism is dull <.<Take some liberties with the setting, dont ground it so much.
