Never played an earlier Fallout than F3, just installed F2. What to expect?

I obviously know it's way different gameplay-wise, but not much else. The karma system is still there, you still make choices and all that?

If it's anything like the first Fallout, be prepared for an extremely dated isometric RPG with a fairly steep learning curve.

I tried to play the first Fallout but I couldn't get into it. Its a game I probably would have loved as a kid.

Steep learning curb, isometric game that'll take time to actually get used to, save a LOT, and like most RPG's in the 90's, it doesn't hold your hand at all. That means if you're lost, look up something or figure it out yourself, or if you mess up, you mess up.

Jesus I wanted to see if kids were invincible in this game like they are in 3/NV and the game straight up froze and gave me an error message when I delivered the final shot. Don't know if this is a glitch or an intentional way to dissuade terrible people like me.

I saw one get straight up murdered by the Enclave though so maybe I can

i dont really want to though you get some pretty bad traits from it

One version of Fallout 1 and 2 you can kill kids, but another version you can't, I can't remember what one

sounds like a glitch to me, usually you can kill kids just fine

if you do you get the "childkiller" title which affects your interactions with other NPCs

So far so great! Jim can suck it, this is pretty much the Fallout I know with different gameplay. Other than the top-down perspective and turn-based combat, it's definitely better than Fallout 3, and probably just as good as New Vegas. The locations are memorable, the characters are colorful, and the Enclave is far more intimidating than it was in F3. Oh, and it breaks the fourth wall more than any other game I've seen. I'm a sucker for meta stuff like that.

I'm only in New Reno, but easily a 9/10 game so far.

For the first game you can't give your companions armor outside a mod so they're going to die close to the end.

For the second game do not go to the end of the map until you reach at least level 20 because you will get raped on the way. Also make sure you download the restoration mod.
