How? How do you mannage to fuck up when you literally just had to coppy-paste old Cod weapon stats and weapon models?

This isn't even like MCC where they had less than a year and a budget of of fingernail dirt to Port 4 games on to new hardware while still building Halo 5.

It's just CoD without all the new shit. You've been doing this shit since the dawn of time. The game is already made. How do you fuck that up?
It's made by Sledgehammer, they are incompetent and flat out retarded when it comes to making CoD games. Don't let the WWII-theme fool you because this game is hands down one of the WORST CoD games ever made.

And stop believing the "3 year development" lies that Activision says because WW2 was datamined and people found exo suits and advanced movement in the game's code. This leads to the speculation that this game was developed in an extremely short amount of time after the backlash that IW got. It all adds up because the game is horrendously buggy and extremely lacks polish in all areas. Advanced Warfare 2 was rumored to already be in development at the time of IW's pre release and post release.

Activison knew that people are sick of the future stuff and slapped this clusterfuck of a game to try and make up all the money they lost with IW.

I played the game for 2 weeks and stopped because of how bad it is and I'm not gonna wait for any fixes because the damage has already been done.

World at War is nearly 10 years old and the fact that a game that old is better in every single category than the new one that has the same setting is embarrassing.
As someone who worked on CoD - I can confirm, they DO take three years a pop. Just because they found traces of IW in the WW2 code, just means that they are not stupid enough to throw out an engine and write a fresh one. Objects are not deleted because some thing depend on the object count. To save time, they might remove the asset but keep the reference. Going through every routine to check what it (and how many) things it expects would take a lot of time.

I also want to add that asset creation is much more complex now than it was years ago. The increase in technology means we can have higher fidelity assets than before, but they take more time to create.

I haven't played any COD game aside from Advanced Warfare (nay) and Infinite Warfare (yay) campaign modes though.
