Itโs not the Metroid II players of the original will remember. If you listen closely, you can hear Verb freaking out
I feel I should try this. Is this the one where the other Samus suit is around and that scary music plays?

Did Other M more or less kill the series? I haven't heard much from it every since.

Quote from: Luciana on August 07, 2016, 05:53:18 PMDid Other M more or less kill the series? I haven't heard much from it every since.Basically. The story itself has actually been "finished" since Fusion's release in 2002. Every game since then has either been a spin-off or something used to fill the gaps in the story, like the Prime trilogy. Anything else they could add to the story would just seem contrived--and that's exactly how Other M felt.Other M was a bizarre anomaly, because it doesn't add anything to the story, yet it tries so hard to by giving Samus these brooding, whiny monologues about what it's like being the only woman in the Galactic Federation and bla bla bla. They made her out to be this petulant, emotionless child--and story-wise, this comes straight after Super Metroid.Apart from ruining her character, the gameplay sucked ass, too, even though some people thought it was okay. Think of Fallout 3, except the story was destroyed not by some unfamiliar third party--but the man himself, Yoshio Sakamoto, who wrote all the previous Metroid games, too. He's basically regarded by Metroid fans as the George Lucas of video games. Once great, but not so much anymore. There hasn't been a mainline Metroid game since, because there's really not much left you can do with the story at this point. All the gaps have been filled, any Other M was awkwardly squeezed in like a fat guy in an airplane seat. No one asked for Federation Force, but spin-offs are all you can really derive from the game's lore anymore. All right, this is starting to make me sad--play Super Metroid please.

Ah yes, I do love it when a series you love gets destroyed. It sounds bad too since it's the OG guy that did it. Anyway, should I just finish this remake of M2 first? I'm enjoying it. And then Super M after? And then the remake of the original or Fusion I guess. Fusion sounds fun. And it sounds to me like they should more or less start a different plot completely if they're gonna advance the Metroid series.

Not sure how I'd feel about that.

Super understandable that Nintendo would hit it with a DMCA. They still have plans to resell NES and SNES games for the next 80 years.
