So I FINALLY got to play some MGS5 for a change. (What does Heroism do, exactly?)

I'm only on Mission 7 so far, but I've been taking like 90 minutes on average to complete a mission. My Heroism is around 8000 or something (the post-mission thing looked close to being full...?), probably from extracting like, every animal I see (tranqs even work on crows and rats, plus I developed the trap thing.)

There's a kind of bliss I get every time I play, and this session was the best one so far. I completed most of the side objectives, save for one, and got a bunch of diamonds too, just from interrogating pretty much everyone I could.

It had me wondering, though: Why am I seeing so many soldiers with good stats during missions? Free-roam usually gives me the usual gamut of low-stat soldiers, but on missions I see much, much better soldiers. Just in this mission, I saw three soldiers with A-rank or higher skills all in the rendezvous village.

I couldn't believe my eyes! Literally saw the three of them just a few feet away from each other. I'm still fultoning regular soldiers to fill up the new *ahem* platform, but otherwise I'm just firing the staff members who don't have at least a C in their highest skill.

In total, I have about 4-5 A-rank-or-higher staff members (NOT including folks like Ocelot) for when I finally get to build a combat platform. That'll be fun >.>

Heroism is basically how many good things you do, you get it pretty easily though, you can lose by building nukes, killing your men, etc.

Iirc if you get a really low heroism then your "horn" grows

We're not tools of the government, or anyone else. Fighting was the only thing... the only thing I was good at. But... at least I always fought for what I believed in.

mgs2 is weird

It's a less good version of MGS2, IMO. Still fun though.

I recommend at least 1 playthrough for every gamer.

Heroism determines the number and quality of the soldiers that volunteer to join Diamond Dogs. Low heroism will get you a few shitty mercs, maybe a few Ds or Cs, who want to make a quick buck. High heroism will get you a ton of A- and B-rank badasses.

He could say anything - literally anything - and it would sound amazing. Even if he read Otacon's lines in MGS, it'd still sound great.

The line is stupid, but he makes it seem badass. He could recite nursery rhymes, and it would still be intimidating.

Lol, yeah that line is pretty stupid.

I think everyone except Troy Baker did an astounding job. What little bits of Kiefer we get are spot-on, Atkin was PHENOMENAL as Miller, obviously Horan, even Randolf brought his A-game.

What didn't you like about Baker?

It's not that he was bad, per say, but he was the weakest one, IMO.

His voice changes from beginning to end. Go, look. Compare Anything pre-2014 that Ocelot says to the dialogue in the E3 2015 trailer (you could look in the game's cutscenes but you don't have the game). The rough, almost southern accent he has is replaced with what sounds like a teenage Joel from TLOU.

I preferred his original voice versus the one that he uses near the end.
