So I'm playing MGS1 and still trying to full understand the plot.

The government sent Snake in with FOXDIE to kill everyone.
Liquid used Snake to activate Metal Gear, did he know that Snake was there all along, fully aware of the FOXDIE?

Yes to both. Liquid assumed he would be as resistant to FOXDIE as Solid, but he was wrong (even though he was genetically superior).

Can't recall. I just want to know what part of Solid's genes made him so resistant to the stuff while Liquid and Big Boss weren't.

I don't think Liquid assumed that he would be resistant to FOXDIE, considering he included it in his demands after discovering its presence. By the time we overhear Liquid's plan to include the FOXDIE vaccine in their demands, he and Ocelot are the only members left alive. Ocelot had already run in with Solid, so it was pretty safe to assume that he was unaffected. What other reason would there be for the vaccine at that point?

And even if they assumed that Ocelot just got lucky, and is affected, Liquid doesn't really care for him. He's more worried about himself.


And no, they never stated why Liquid died and Solid lived. I assume it was meant to help push the theme of "gene", and how it doesn't control your fate or whatever.
