But how does that affect storytelling, at all?Your logic isn't logical. You can argue that it's a poor design decision but it doesn't affect plot or writing or dialogue. At all. Which is what "story" refers to.
The music on the cassette tapes were also a let down.No Nuclear or Elegia. No David Bowie. No Bon Jovi, no Duran Duran. They didn't even include TBIYTC, Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday, and Calling to the Night.

I'm referring to the pacing of the story. I feel the pacing of the story for MGS V was off.
The writing wasn't the best either, but the level design of the other games helped the pacing to everything.
Sandbox gameplay does not compliment a game like MGS in that regard.

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.

At least in TPP I can play the game while learning new things, whereas in older MGS games I'm constantly taken out of gameplay to listen to irrelevant dialogue about which frequency is my save feature.QuoteSandbox gameplay does not compliment a game like MGS in that regard.Snake Eater has sandbox gameplay, though.

I'm not gonna break down every post like you guys at Sept love to do, so here we go.
The frequency thing about saving wasn't even that big a deal to me.
Honestly, I miss a lot of the codec crap. I liked to put my controller down and listen to some amazing voice acting.
It felt like after MGS 4, Kojima was scared of it.
GTA, Far Cry, MGS V, etc.
MGS 3 has more open areas, but you still have paths you have to go down to get to certain areas.
You can't just fast travel or take a helicopter to some zone.

Have you considered that characters you might like and appreciate might actually have something really shitty about them that you probably shouldn't overlook?

QuoteYou can find appeal in more than just in her looks, which were indeed meant to appeal to hormonal males, but that in no way restricts you from finding something else appealing. That's not what I'm saying. I just think it's stupid to ignore the negatives. You accuse me of ignoring the positives--I'm accusing you of ignoring the negatives.

Well, I don't own the game yet, guy. So I really can't comment on anything else but what I can see and hear, can I?
As for Liquid, his entire appearance in MGSV was a complete let down.I was expecting Big Boss, at the time of his meeting with Eli for the first time, to already be on the path of a demon. Eli is a promising young soldier with a distaste for adults, but he always looked up to his "father", Big Boss.Big Boss ultimately kicks his ass, multiple times, and tells him "You inferior POS, I'm sure your brother wouldn't disappoint me like this, with his dominant genes." or something like that, hence his hatred for Solid and Boss. The only scene in the game I liked was when he was patted on the back after arriving at Motherbase. "Welcome to Outer Heaven." *pat* *shakes in anger, steals Snake's knife and tries to stab him*Cool scene but they make Liquid wholly unlikable in an entirely different landscape from his first debut. This isn't 1998 where a British accent and cool sounding words like "recessive" and "inferior" make for an interesting story.
But they included Ultravox, Billy Idol, Thomas Dolby, Kajagoogoo, Japan, Hall & Oats, Kim Wilde, Europe, a-ha, Dead or Alive, and The Cure.

Diamond Dogs? The Man Who Sold The World? C'mon. And I don't even like Bowie.
Europe
Liquid was raised from birth to be a killer, got told his entire life that he was the inferior of Big Boss' sons (or perhaps came to the conclusion himself based on no real evidence), got tortured for what's implied to be years in the Middle East, believed he was created to destroy because his genes said so without even attempting to live for anything else, and held an irrational hatred for a brother he hadn't even met before. It's clear he was not at all stable, and snapping at the slightest gesture was entirely understandable given the circumstances.
