I just personally hate fanservice for the sake of fanservice. Not on the level of Verbby, but it's just something that appeals to the lowest common denominator.

In another MGS game where humor is mixed with serious stuff because Kojima stated before that too much serious shit is bad, it'd fit. MGS 2 for example had a butt naked Raiden. It had humor mixed in with a lot of it, both in atmosphere and story.

Not so much with MGS V. It's constantly serious with an atmosphere that is just as serious. So having a girl dressed in nothing more than sexy lingerie seems jarring at best. Never mind the bit with her taking a shower with you on your birthday and the soldiers are literally saying "Ohhhh she's a bad girl~...", which is just... fucking weird.

Kojima likes boobies, no doubting that (and he's Japanese, and they all love em). It's just how he went about it in this game.

Let me be the first to say that MGS V's atmosphere isn't BAD

Oddly enough, this felt the least like a Metal Gear game in the entire series if you ask me. I'm not sure if I really like that in terms of story (what story amiright? lol gomen)

I actually keep comparing V's story to Peace Walker and get depressed on how the quality dropped off.

Like, I remember Snake in that room about to get executed and IN COME THE MEXICA- uhh... allies who shoot up the place and the MGS PW main theme plays.

I remember BB and the Robut interacting.

I remember Strangelove interrogating BB and getting emotional over multiple things (Strangelove turns me on. Women who can pull off the short hair thing get me excited).


Where was that in MGS V? But that's a whole different story.

There is still humor sprinkled in, but nowhere near the way it was combined in other Metal Gear games. Especially atmosphere.

It's the media, everyone is objectified. God only knows how many times some male celebrity shows up on a magazine cover shirtless. The reason is to attract attention, it's what it does. Just because something grabs your eye doesn't mean the cover is all there is, it just drags you in. You don't judge a book by its cover, but you certainly are going to be more interested in a book with a more attractive title or cover art.
