Well your radio is always on. If you're by someone when they talk, you hear their actual vocals first before the radio chatter since there is a slight delay.

Same reason when you call a radio station they ask you to turn it down.

Or the need for a composer in a large room where the orchestra band plays. Sound travels slow.

I personally think it's pretty cool when you really think about it.

with quiet's humming though, it's actually soothing when it's just her voice. I'd rather just hear that when near her.
