Sometimes I sort of forget that Big Boss' story takes place in the same continuity as Metal Gear and beyond. It's odd to suddenly remember that it's all basically a flashback and that the rest of the games in the timeline will happen later, given the difference in tone.

I know I said I was only playing MGS1 to show my dad, but after letting him play, he didn't seem like he was having all that much fun, unfortunately. So I started playing by myself.

Anyone else feel the Metal Gear story as a whole fell apart ever since Kojima had to explain everything in 4? As in, it wasn't as good?

Yes. The series was much better when it was you up against genuinely supernatural threats.

At least psychics and ghosts (and apparently demons) are still real in the series. I assume that's only because Kojima couldn't think of a way to incorporate nanomachines into whatever explanation he dreamed up, though.

The way they handled Mantis pissed me off too.

The guy that had a big revelation at the end and used his power for good right before he died? Nah lol fuck you. He's evil again and controls everyone.

I wonder why Eli and Mantis trusted Ocelot 20 years later, knowing he was once their enemy.
