I like how he chose his loyalty to Big Boss over his friendship with Snake, but they never stopped being friends. In most stories the reluctant friend warrior guy chooses to help the protagonist after being reminded that they're friends, but Fox went against the norm.

Also, he came back from the dead as a cyborg ninja zombie. That's pretty hype.

Also, the nanotechnology and cybernetic experiments he had forced on him paved the way for Sons of Patriots system and the cyborgs, as well as his dismemberment of Ocelot causing the latter to graft Liquid's arm on as a replacement, mean that he's responsible for all of MGS2 and almost every event in MGS4. He's single-handedly responsible for most of the story.

And finally, his story arc was one of the more interesting pieces of Metal Gear's lore. He went from being an angry child to a living weapon to Big Boss' surrogate son to Solid Snake's mentor and friend to a dead man who just wanted it all to be over after a quick fight with Snake to, right at the end, choosing to spend the last moments of his life helping his surrogate brother and looking out for his adopted sister. He has more character development than most fictional characters.

Also, considering the embargo lifts tomorrow, would you guys be so kind as to discuss reviews in a separate thread?

Great game, but MGS1 is still the one I like the most so far.

Also, fuck the end of that hallway where you fight alongside Snake. The dumb shit kept running right into them and getting himself killed.
And the sword controls sucks ass.

My favourite is going to be the opening to MGS4. It's fucking amazing, even if I hate the game. Definitely one of the strongest scenes in gaming.

A close second is the false ending to Peace Walker, where BB takes the mantle of Big Boss finally. Awesome.

But seriously, I love EVA's speech at the end of MGS3, then leading it to the salute, it was so freaking powerful. Also BB's speech to Chico when they first meet, specifically "I wasted a bullet. Don't waste your life"

The bullet line in Peace Walker is SO good.

PW is full of great moments, it's why I consider it to be the second best Metal Gear.
