Though he claims to hate him, Squidward has been living next door with Spongebob for almost two decades. If he really found him so annoying, why wouldn't he just move?

Not to mention, several of those hundreds of episodes depict Squidward in highly tense situations with Spongebob that involve looking at him. When in situations of high duress, Squidward has often revealed his overt affection for the sponge.
