I didn't, I usually just base it on which subsequent Saren encounter layout/location I want to experience more in that particular playthrough [and I suppose it's a consequence of who I choose to go with Kirrahe]. Usually I end up saving Kaidan for whatever reason, despite having no favoritism towards him

Only she doesn't really change and she becomes a worse character throughout the series while Kaiden actually gets better.
