Each one does things well and poorly I'd say that DS2 added some decent mechanics, but it doesn't do anything well or better, imo.

I enjoyed the duel weilding power stance and the replacement of the stupid kick in 2, and it's definitely smoother but that just comes from it being years newer1's combat has way more weight to it though and the enemy swords don't have like magical homing devices that turn them mid lunge to hit you and poise and scaling actually works Overall ds1 does have better combat but I think ds2 doesn't deserve ALL the hate it gets, just most of itI agree that it doesn't deserve all of the hate, but still.Power stance is good.Removal of kicking is awful.Guard break is good. Two part backstabbing is bad.Soul memory is awful. The "smoother" part is beyond awful. DS2 PVP feels like it's half slow-mo, moving through a thick layer of butter. It might be smooth, but it's slower, less responsive and less skillful. It's still a good game, but really nothing compared to the snappy, fast and accurate DS1.

Two part backstabbing is bad.
and the inevitable dark souls 3 returns to that diversity
