It's 2016 now. I'm pretty sure that even the most potato of potato PCs these days can run 10+ year old PS2 level games. If you have a decent mobo, you may even be able to run them just by using on-board video. You can also build a PC of comparable or better power to a modern console for roughly the same price. Also, if you're a low income gamer in a third world country, you probably aren't going to be playing an X1 or PS4. You're probably going to be playing F2P games on a laptop or low end PC.

Citing the PS2 specifically was a mistake. What I meant was that I want the current state of the art technology for less than $20, without piracy. Any game that's worth playing cannot be played on PC--they have to be played on console, if you're a good person like me who doesn't pirate games.

If you somehow believe that PC games are good, then by all means, play them, but don't try and tell me that PC gaming is better just because YOU enjoy the games it has. That's not an argument. Sorry.

Those specific consoles? Sure. But that leaves out handhelds, the Wii U, the Wii, the PS3, the Xbox 360, the PS2, the OG Xbox, the Gamecube, and basically everything before that. "Console gaming" as a blanket term refers to all these games, not just the current generation of games. That's what it means to me, anyway.

So, yes, across the entire history of console gaming, in my HUMBLE opinion, the number of quality games put out on console that are not available to play on PC is gargantuan. This alone kicks PC's ass. PC has nothing on that. No amount of "better" hardware arguments (which are all subjective) will EVER make me look over the fact that PC does not have the NES library, or the SNES library, or the N64 library, or the PS2 library, or the Gameboy library, etc. etc. etc.

PC has shitty FPS games, terrible indie games, and boring-as-fuck strategy games. Yay.

Sure, Sony has plenty of exclusives on PS4, but those are mostly just appealing for people who were already fans of Sony.

I'm not going to compare Nintendo, because Nintendo is in it's own league and can't really be compared due to it being Nintendo and hosting completely different genres and appealing to completely different demographics than what is typical of other platforms, though ironically, as a PC gamer, the Wii U is the only console that's actually worth buying.

Debunked, and proven to be an irrelevant factor in determining which is better between PC gaming and console gaming. Depending on how lucky you are, you can find anything for dirt cheap on Amazon, at a rummage sale, or in a flea market. That goes for both console and PC. By this method, one platform is not more cost efficient than the other, and the Steam sales argument goes out the window once you realize that it's a subjective issue, and that the price of a game doesn't matter if you think everything on Steam sucks. Argument destroyed.

"Piracy is possible on consoles."

Being a good person and buying the game is possible, too. You can go to the store and buy yourself a copy of any game you want, if it's available on your console(s) of choice. If you want to play the same exclusive game on PC, though, you can't. The only way is to beak the law and pirate it. Argument destroyed.

This just destroys itself, really. No. The fact that PC gaming makes money is irrelevant. If I hate the entire Steam library, then I hate the entire Steam library. If I think all the games are 1/10 pieces of shit, then there is no way you could possibly convince me that PC gaming is better in any way. Not with hardware, not with prices, not with anything. The one thing you HAVE to do in order to convince me that PC gaming is better is show me a higher number of games that I would enjoy. You have failed to do this.

The comment on better games is an opinion like you said and the price comment is kind of right if the person is uninformed. But the fact that you can tailor your graphic settings and frame rate to what you need is something I really wish they brought to consoles. We all remember the trailers and game videos leading up to the release of the next CoD showing a stable 60fps but as soon as you slap it into your console you're getting 30 if you're lucky.

My PS2 shit the bed almost a year ago, I try to stick exclusively to Amazon and I have yet to find a PS2 for $20 on there.

I can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 unless you put them side-by-side, so it's a total non-issue for me.
