You either die a hero or live long enough to become Mythic..
>This fucking thread

Pip, I believe it's high time you ask for what little remains of this thread to be vaporized.
But requesting locke doesn't work tho
It does, but this last page seems somewhat polite enough to read without rolling my eyes. Ish.

Can you chaps discuss this nicely or do I need to lock it?

If anyone calls eachother another name that is challenge plummeted to rock bottom and locke.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.

I just thought up of a simple scenario that would make unstable frame rates appealing from an artistic standpoint.

Say you're playing an RPG, and the RPG's setting is like a virtual world--a game within a game type of thing. During the climax, or pre-climax, let's say the antagonist finds a way to access the world's engine or mainframe or whatever. He intends to destroy it, which will effectively corrupt your entire party in one fell swoop.

He's not strong enough to destroy it completely, though--he manages to damage it, but only to the extent that it causes the virtual world itself to falter a bit. So, in order to convey that to the player, enemies become pixelated, the music gets all wonky, and even the frame rate itself starts lagging a little bit.

Assuming the designers played around with it to where it wouldn't be annoying to play--let's say they made it a brief segment of the game, so you're not constantly having to deal with it for a large portion of the game. I personally think that would add a sense of urgency to the game. The world around you is literally falling apart, and you have the incentive now to stop that. Don't you think that would be kinda cool, or at least interesting as an artistic decision?

I'm just saying, anything's possible. You don't have to like "bad" frame rates if it's causing you to enjoy the experience less. I'm just trying to come up with a way to get you to see how virtually anything that you perceive as "bad" can be turned into a "good" if it's utilized properly.

It doesn't even have to be intentional. Sometimes, unintentional imperfections can enhance the experience as well. It's just harder to come up with an example that involves frame rate.

The moment your scenario, which is actually creative, comes into play, I'd enjoy the theme they were going for. I'm reminded of Metal Gear Solid 1/2 with Psycho Mantis doing his Hideo black out thing (which scared me as a kid), and MGS2 doing the Fission Mailure screen zoom out.

It was the game developer fucking with you while still fitting into the story of it, all to a brilliant effect. So yeah, I see exactly where you're coming from. But I'm simply coming from games that don't try that at all and TRY to make it smooth, but due to bad optimization or whatever other means, it doesn't, and thus it pulls me from the game.

An example would be the FF 15 demo I was playing and you're running away from a massive monster. So to get out a cutscene plays where you slide under some small vent or whatever, and the frames go from the stable 30, all the way down to like 15. It felt so bad, it COMPLETELY removed me from the intensity of what they were going for, and I was reminded I am playing a very early demo with some issues.

I'm just disappointed in it because it jerks me out of the setting they're trying to throw me in, and it's reminding me that I am still on a couch/in front of a computer, playing a game.

She shimmies too when she does her ultimate. Gives her shoulders a little wiggle, I find it funny.
