That's definitely a big part of it, too—the fact that Nintendo and Sakurai had the power to finesse the rights to a character owned by DISNEY, a company so notorious for being so protective of its intellectual property—all in the name of fanservice—is an absolute triumph no matter how you look at it.You got your Doom Slayer, at the very least. That's a character I would've been disappointed with, because I've always felt that Doom's ultraviolence wouldn't be something they'd be able to faithfully represent, and it wouldn't have "fit" the game anyway—so even if it's not what you asked for, a Mii Costume just feels like the better route IMO.
Yeah, I'd say Pyra and Mythra especially sucked because they were clearly just shill picks for Nintendo's latest shit-ass JRPG for weebs to jerk off to, but I do think that's what separates Sora from these characters—it makes all the difference to me that people (at large) actually wanted to have Sora, and went through an organically democratic process to get him there. And after we've been led to believe that Bayonetta won the Smash Ballot for all these years, it was pretty vindicating to learn that it was actually Sora who won all along.Your issues with Mii Costumes are totally valid. I personally think they're kinda cool, because if nothing else, it's an acknowledgment. I feel worse for Crash fans, who were given absolutely nothing—not even a Spirit (even Rayman has a Spirit).
