tbh the best advice for Zelda games is to explore everywhere in a Dungeon.

I've explored everywhere except the second floor.

Because I have no idea how to get there.

As soon as you walk in, there's only two doors: the one on the far back left, and the one on the close right.

Going through the one of the right, there appears to be a ledge with an enemy walking around. But I can't get up there. Further down the path, there's a door that leads to a single torch that's lit, in a room with a Gold Skelletula and a few Keese. But you can't walk more than 20 feet without the deku staff burning out.

Continuing on that path brings you right back to the main room.

On the left, the path leads nowhere except a room where I got the compass.

There's a room with a certain puzzle for getting up there. It's fairly plain to see what you need to do but I don't think I can tell you anything else about it.

Just figured it out!

The room where the compass is, there's a bunch of bombs. Blew them out, causing a chain reaction.

yeahhh

generally, red rupees are only found in small chests (iirc), so you can make a mental note not to open them
so you don't get short-changed like that

unless your wallet's not already full, of course

Then I read the clue, "When his eyes see red", and I was like, damn. Drop the bombs in his eyes.

Now that I'm through with Fallout 3, maybe I could start my own run of OoT and play along with this thread.

I gotta play Dark Souls next, though, so most of my time will be spent on that, more than likely.

It's just a friendly little competition. If I have to sacrifice enjoyment or the ability to "take my time" just so I can beat the game a few minutes quicker, I'm not going to.
