it's a parody of shitty handheld camera machinimas, not scripted or anything. We were just bored and decided to make something dumb.

There is a difference between being a parody of a shitty handheld camera machinima and just plain being a shitty handheld camera machinima. This falls into the latter category.

You want a breakdown and analysis, Ok, it's shit because it's unfocused and unfunny. You try to make fun of the req system and do a parody of poorly made machinimas at the same time and fail at both, partly because neither of those topics compliment each other for any jokes, and then it doesn't even manage to be absurd enough to be funny just for that.

It's supposed to be a parody of bad machinimas yet all it accomplishes is being a bad machinima because there is no self awareness about it. It does not acknowledge the apparently intentional flaws or make fun of poorly made machinima's aspects like the shaky cam or bad audio, it just copies it.


And then it fails on the aspect of legitimately criticizing or deconstructing the flaws the Req System because 99% of it is nothing muffled unfunny dialogue followed by someone saying "Buy Req packs" as if saying that somehow constitutes as a joke.  However, I will give you credit for one thing though, the closest thing you came to a good joke was when they killed Locke for pre-ordering his armor.

Ok right, to start - the humour is supposed to be within the production value, the dialogue and general plot line is more of a complement and not supposed to be the main source of comedy. We could have easily scripted something out, but we decided to wing it and make it awkward like so many bad machinimas fell into. Hell, even some machinimas that are scripted sound awkward



The story was being made as we went along, because we weren't trying to create a high brow criticism of the REQ system, the only reason why we even decided to have the Halo 5 video themed after REQ packs was because REQ's are mentioned in the Halo 4 video (which was completely unscripted, Fedorekd said that once he starts crouching that is when he'll stop recording and then the guy playing Chief went up and said "buy REQ packs now").

Which is the point, really. The intention was supposed to make a bad machinima, to show how stupid they were. I can
some what see what you mean, but these were also made in 5 minutes each because we were bored - it's not like much thought went into its production. We didn't need to over exaggerate elements of a shitty machinima either in order to create a parody, I think everyone with half a brain cell can understand that it wasn't a serious production.

Probably because it wasn't supposed to be. It was a pitch.

We're going to make another one too, and there's NOTHING you can do about it.
