Jack being the protagonist of the original Bioshock.
If Jack is that means we should be seeing him come back to Columbia at some point.
That would be a good sequel. It might even bring back the atmosphere and emotion of the previous games.

Isn't it funny, how the silent protagonist works? Now that you mention it.

We played all through the first Bioshock, and our main character never once said a word. And, through hints that a lot of people missed, our silent protagonist gained a name. Jack. Simple, and common, with nothing remarkable about it. There were a few moments in Bioshock 2 where splicers could be seen or heard, talking about Jack.

And immidiately upon hearing the name, you missed Jack. Wanted to see him again even though you never once saw his true face. Wanted to know what happened to him, were concerned even. It was like a nostalgia, but different.

Funny, how for some reason, silent characters can have such an attachment to them by their fans without ever saying a word.

I suppose you really could say that actions speak louder than words.

Dutch was awesome.

He was my favourite. I wonder if they'll add him in anything in the future? I mean, he's not dead.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.

Yeah, everyone can see how Gordon Freeman got his Doctorate in Theoretical Physics by bashing inter-dimensional aliens with a crowbar.

OT: Assuming Columbia is in the same Universe where Rapture exists, I'd suppose he'd be a constant. Though I'm not certain on this.

For other games, what is considered as canon and continues on to the next game varies. For TES, the main quests were considered canon and done by the character, while faction based quest(s) were canon although done by some unknown person other than the main character.

Other games took a completely different approach. For GTA, there's a "HD" and "3D" Universe which are completely unrelated to each other, which explains why characters from GTA IV are referenced or appear in GTA V, but CJ from GTA SA isn't (because he's from the HD Universe and doesn't exist in the 3D Universe).

Why do you ask what? When the delicious question is when. The only difference between past and present. Is semantics. Lives, lived, will live. Dies, died, will die. If we could perceive time as it really was. What reason would grammar professors have to get out of bed?
Not sure, I'm more inclined to say he is a constant though.
That would be a good sequel. It might even bring back the atmosphere and emotion of the previous games.
Too bad IG got shut down earlier this year.
