is 30 fps acceptable for you?

Reminder that there is no reason for a turn-based game to be 60fps outside of preference.
but if the hardware is capable and it costs the same to develop it, why pick 30 over 60?
Because there is absolutely no reason for it. It just doesn't matter in terms of gameplay unless it's a game that requires fast reaction times.

Besides, higher quality content and more content on screen at once > 60fps
But you can have both. you can have better content on your screen at 60fps, so why not?

You act like it's literally just a pick-and-choose type of thing. It isn't.

And like I said--artistic vision. That's your "why not".

He is Ainu.

Not always. Creating anything is a compromise, especially when it comes to hardware limitations. A game for the 3DS is going to have lower maximums than a PS4, for example.

And no, fps doesn't change the quality of content. I'm talking polygon count, textures, lighting, etc. I'd rather have a 30fps game with all of those vs 60fps with diminished quality.

Well its simple, this console generation won't be nearly as long as the last. I give them 3-4 years.

30fps is not desirable. Ideal would be 60fps.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
Seriously though, how do you guys see such a difference in the two? I just can't myself.
Maybe it's because I play a lot more old games, or rather, I don't really play many games at all any more, but still, attention to detail isn't something I usually slack in...

the fewer fps the shittier it looks. fact.
Doesn't matter. Even 1fps can be better than 120fps, if that's your artistic vision.

Martin Scorsese directed Raging Bull in 1980. Even though color video was available for twenty-seven years at this point, Scorsese still made the artistic decision to shoot that film in black-and-white.

Are you gonna tell me that Martin Scorsese is a bad artist, because he opted not to use color for that Academy Award-winning film?
you're being trolled

To be fair, I think even Tetris will need to be higher than 1 fps if you wanted to play it well

It's a difference in reactivity. In a twitch shooter like battlefield, having fast reflexes is key and higher frame rates make you more responsive. It's very much a "you won't miss it until it's gone" situation.

Tetris ain't 1fps, otherwise the speed-up mechanics wouldn't work in the later stages of the game. Even the classic Space Invaders doesn't run at 1.

OT, 30 fps is fine, though if there's an option for 60fps with no problems I'd gladly have that over 30.

In games with objects with a high movement speed, 60 is probably necessary, but outside of that stable 30 is generally fine. It's all a tradeoff, really. To have a stable 60 FPS and 30 racers on the same screen, F-Zero X had to sacrifice polygon count and make everything look really, really old. Whilst we have much better technology than the N64 now, a sacrifice still has to occur if you want a stable 60 FPS. In Halo 5's case, split-screen had to be cut completely, and personally I'd take a lower stable framerate over no local MP any day.

It's really easy to tell the difference once it's actually in front of you. Same with YouTube videos. Not saying it's a big deal, just noticeable. At least for anyone I guess who games on PC frequently.

Though I could easily tell before I cast aside my terrible computer.

I'm pretty sure they also had to downgrade the graphics and add in a "dynamic resolution", which changes the resolution depending on what's going on in game to keep the framerate at 60 fps

On Halo 5? Yeah I've heard it alternates between 720 and 1080.
