Later you get to fight the Dragonslayer Armour as a optional miniboss. Once killed he drops his armor set.
Holy shit, the area after Filinore is the exact same as the beginning cutscene.

Fast travel to the Kiln of the First Flame bonfire. The bonfire to the DLC is about 10 feet from where that bonfire is.

Apparently last time I played, I finished NG+ and started the new one, so now I have to go through all of NG+2 after months off just to get to the DLC, and then experience it at a higher than normal difficulty level. Fuck.

That's the same as me. If you've beaten the first dlc, you can start the second one from a bonfire that spawns after the Friede & Ariandel boos room. I think you have to talk to that painting girl and and reload the zone first, for the bonfire to appear though.

Are you using the hornet ring? The little bit of extra damage that you can inflict when he staggers can make a difference. Are you getting the laser moveset or the comets/fireball moveset?

Probably just being a little bitch, but the DLC is just not enjoyable because of all the spongey enemies in groups. The stairs with the 6 herald knights and the swamp in particular are fucking hard. The summoner is damn near impossible to kill on NG+2 because his summoned archers just sit there until I die. SL106 w/ quality build, ~500 attack power and ~35 resistances; I dominate every other location in the game. No clue how to advance. I hate having to cheese areas like I'm doing now. If I had time, I'd create a new character just to run back through and experience it on the normal difficulty.
