I think i'm gonna try SWTOR, what to expect?

Yep, I made another. I won't have Dragon's Dogma for much longer so I have to find somethin else.

So next on my list is to try Star Wars: The Old Republic. This is a pretty popular MMO, and while I am not a huge fan of MMO's I have been interested in them in the past.

So, what should I expect coming in? I heard the actual chat is cut off from free users. If it has a huge "pay 2 win" barrier I won't even bother.

It's not a bad game by any means. But it's lacking compared to other MMOs. Because it doesn't have a mandatory subscription for one. Though, if the game had been better at launch with more frequent updates we still would have a mandatory subscription. Buy the game. It comes with 30 days. Enjoy the story. Play through it. Maybe sub a few months to experience all of the stories. But I wouldn't even say it's worth playing once the story is done.

It's a complete butchery of everything KOTOR, particularly the characterisation of Revan and the Exile. Not exactly a bad game on its own, though. Just a bit dull.

Well, you can't pinpoint Revan and the Exile's personality for obvious reasons.
And if they want to bring them back they would have to keep to one version of the character.

I thought you had to buy the game, then it had no sub. Well, that's even worse. That explains it lol. Anyways. Okay, download the game, sub if you want. Get through the story, and quit until more comes out. Or if you find a group and enjoy the endgame, try that. It wasn't good enough for me though. I just liked the story.

Well, you can't pinpoint Revan and the Exile's personality for obvious reasons.
And if they want to bring them back they would have to keep to one version of the character.

They still had base personalities even if most of it was determined by the player.

But the Revan and Exile in SWTOR are so poorly written it's awful.

SWTOR is the reason why I hope Bioware never makes a KOTOR 3.

Except for the Revan bit, it's really fun. The new expansion kind of reboots the story to cut its awkward umbilical cord with KOTOR.

What really pissed me off is showing Revans Identity, Bioware really fucked that one big time. I don't care if his canon gender is male but showing his face just ruins the mystery and his character (considering his character is fucked in SWTOR).

It's okay. Depends on the class you play. It still reeks of trying to copy WoW, but has gotten better.

You should like it though. It's not bad.

They still had character traits which weren't decided by the character. For Revan he went from having his own motives to simply being mind controlled to due the bidding off some Sith guy. The guy went from being an interesting character or at least having interesting motives to simply being a pwn to introduced another character. The build up that was made for him in KoTOR 1 and 2 is destroyed due to the changes that happened to him.

For the Exile she simply died from being stabbed in the back. This is a character who defeated a Jedi who willed himself to live, defeated a Jedi who can use the force to drain all life on a planet and defeated a Jedi who not only was manipulating those two Sith lords, but she also drained the life of four Jedi masters at once. Having he die from simply being stabbed in the back is a shitty way to kill someone like her off.

For Revan what would be cool is that he is not a person, but an identity that gets passed on somehow just like the arbiter rank in Halo. Revan would start out as an original person but over time a different person would be wearing his mask and would take his name for their own use.
