I need a good RTS game

For some reason I'm hankering to play a good RTS game. Can anyone reccomend one that's especially awesome. If it's on sale on steam than even better

Preferably either fantasy or scifi but I'll play any theme as long as it's good. The only RTS games I've thoroughly played are halo wars, Starcraft 2, and EndWar

Plus I don't like just looking at maps I like building units and commanding them about a smaller battlefield a la Starcraft or halo wars

if you haven't played a lot of RTS games then Age of empires is a good start, especially age of mythology oh boy that game is like just oh baby. Civ 5 is also pretty good.

Starcraft: Brood War is the best RTS game ever. You can get it for $10 on Battle.net.

And Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath/Tiberium Wars is pretty good as well. Just stay as far away from C&C 4 as possible.

Warcraft 3 is another good RTS. Just as good as Brood War.

Good choice, AoM is basically a better Age of Empires anyway, so have fun with that.
