I have an idea on how WW2 games can make a comeback.

It's simple have them be a sci-fi game that's based on the events, people and equipment. For example Germany and Russia would be their own planets and they invade this planet together known as Poland. For things like Normandy it would be the planets America and UK invading occupied France in order to get a foot hold in Germany's sector. The island hopping in the Pacific would be planet/moon hopping so the US gets bases closer to planet Japan. The nukes would be a ship base weapon. So it would be a ship armed with a Death Star like laser, but it takes out cities in one blast. The air battles would be both air and space battles. The sea battles would be space battles.

For vehicles the u-bots can be similar to those romulan warbirds, aircraft carriers would be large space ships that have a bunch of fighters on them, battleships would be generic battle ships like Star Destroyers and that large battleship that Germany and Japan had would be around the size of Super Star Destroyers.

But why? With current gen being a lot more powerful we can have games that weren't possible on 6 and 7th gen.

I don't care if one team would be OP, I want a proper normandy invasion map on something like battlefield- a bunch of bunkers with HMG's, landmines, flamethrowers, tank traps and constant bullet fire. Like Operation MEtro on stroids. Basically the ability to play Saving Private Ryan. I don't care if it's balanced or not.

My point is, you're suggesting that we should bring back WWII games by making a generic Military Sci-Fi game and not an actual WWII game

Their are plenty of popular World War 2 games out right now, IL2: Cliffs of Dover, DCS has WW2 aircraft available, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad and Rising Storm, Men of War Assault Squad 2, Combat Mission: Red Thunder, Hearts of Iron 3, Company of Heroes 2, War Thunder,

They are but I think he's talking about shooters. All the FPS games besides Battlefield 1942 if you want to count that are about the Allies.

Red Orchestra 2: heroes of Stalingrad and Red Orchestra: Ost Front 1941-1945 are realistic shooters that deal with the eastern front of World War 2 from both sides.
