I have a question for those of you that are knowledgeable in the Halo lore.

For the glass panel that Key's is looking at on the Autumn you see an image of Halo. When you look at the image you see the word "HALO" underneath an image of the ring. My question is how did Key's or whoever did that panel know what the ring is called? By coincidence did they pick a word to name it and that word happened to be what the rings are called?

I just assumed it's a term that stuck much in the way of the Forerunner's Maginot Line, rather than what they and the Covenant called it with their own tongues.

Or maybe it's just an oversight nobody cared about dealing with

It's just an oversight. Though it could be argued that numerous references to halo being used in Covenant netwroks and transmissions, particularly around the ring itself, prompted Cortana to assume that was what the ring was called. Honestly though, it's just an oversight.

Probably an oversight like others are saying, but let's just pretend Cortana knew what it was called and say that she only actually said what the name was later in the game.
