Why are the most popular PC games and PC exclusives games with bad graphics?

LoL, Dota, WoW, CS, Hearthstone, H1Z1, Smite, Team Fortress, etc. Those games either have unrealistic cartoony PS2 graphics or generic low res crap that looks like it's from 2007.

Most of the games you hype up because of graphics are third party games that come to every system and sometimes don't even work on PC like Batman.

they're the most popular because they can run on any computer, a $100 netbook from Walmart can run LoL and Dota. Obviously the games that the most people can play are going to be the most popular. Mine craft is one of the most popular games on Xbox 360 but that doesn't make it indicative of the only graphics the Xbox 360 is capable of.

Because they're easy to run, and every kid with a laptop can play them. Popularity doesn't necessarily equal quality.

Also, one of the reasons PC is great as a gaming platform is because of things like that. If you want the to play the latest and most demanding games, you can do that, but it'll cost you a little. If you just want to play long-lived multiplayer games with friends, you can do that for considerably cheaper. You have options on PC, on console you don't.

I disagree. All the units look the same, the combat was horrible because of the new engine (they could only kill each other 1v1, and not as a unit), and various other things. It lacked unit diversity too, which also bugged me.

The general consensus is that Medieval 2 or Rome 1 are arguably the best ones. That's not to say Shogun is bad though.
