I have a question about Microsoft about the Xbone.

Microsoft is this company that is worth billions if not a few trillion. Which means they have a large budget to throw into R&D. Sony on the other hand is worth less so they wouldn't have as much of a budget for R&D. So then how did the PS4 end up being more advanced than the Xbone? Not only is this system more powerful but it's smaller and it doesn't have a power brick. The Xbone on the other hand is a little bit weaker, it looks like a system that would have came out during the PS2 gen and it still uses a power brick. Shouldn't MS be the ones with the more advanced system due to the amount of money they have, not Sony?

Hardware company vs software company (though that doesn't explain the x1 UI).
Different focuses. (entertainment console vs pure gaming console)

They both gambled on what would be in higher demand. Sony bet on a core gaming audience. MS tried to spread the net and appeal to casuals/nongamers as well as that core gaming audience. Gambling on power/hardware vs price as well.

MS wanted to include Kinect and have 3 separate operating systems which the ddr3 ram is optimized for. While Sony gambled on graphics putting in a stronger gpu and graphics optimized gddr5 ram while cutting out the camera.

Just because MS is the larger company doesn't mean they're dumping their billions into the xbox division. Majority of their profits and focus are from/on Windows.

If you want to know who really fucked up this gen the answer is Nintendo who didn't go to x86, and as a result will go another gen without multiplats.

Edit: Also the reason the xbone is VCR shaped is because MS lost a ton of money out the gate on the 360 due to replacing overheating consoles. So they made a big vent box this time around probably because execs were afraid of repeating that.

If the consoles had been released in 2014 I imagine they would've been considerably more powerful. Sony had to get a new console out the gate because their company was in bad shape, and Microsoft didn't want a reverse of 2006, so they reacted and released their console in 2013 as well.
