I bought Dark Souls 3

Help me I'm scared. Haven't best the first boss after several tries.

I've only played a bit of the first one (I beat the asylum demon and didn't ever best the second boss).

Playing on Xbox One.

You have made a mistake. Take it back and get DS1 or DS2

Better yet, trow it away and get DS1 or 2 anyway so that nobody gets tricked into buying ds3

DS2s base game is pretty shit honestly, since it ammounts to being Cat Mario with a Dark Souls skin. but the PvP is probably the best in the series and the DLC is pretty good as well.

Eugh, I got this game a while back, and it felt like it was just pandering to Dark Souls 1 fans the whole time with "HEY LOL REMEMBER DIZ IN THA FIRST GAEM?". I eventually traded it in -- something I don't normally do with games.

My biggest complaints about it by far is the lack of poise, and the removal of many good features that came with Dark Souls 2 (since that game got an overwhelming amount of hatred, and I assume after gauging their reaction, From just said "whelp, that game sucks balls, lets just try and retcon it out of the series").

Also, if you pick the Knight, you get the best weapon and armor set in the game, and you'll never need to use anything else, from a technical viewpoint.

Don't be afraid to get right up in a big enemy's shit. A lot of times rolling away from them is worse than rolling towards them.

parry window in ds3 is tiny, luckily you won't need it much - if at all, but it's still the best way to beat uncle Gundyr

No, I am a knight (I can't help the fact that I like helmets).

The pilgrim mentions he was once a sorcerer. I assumed he was using sorcery to upgrade my character at the expense of hollowing.

I don't. I've been keeping my mouth shut mostly since I'd be too lazy to get into the discussion again, but I think Dark Souls 2 was more a proper sequel than Dark Souls 3 since I personally feel Souls 3 was almost always just taking from the glory days of Dark Souls 1, without taking bold and new directions like 2 did.

I'm not saying 2 was the better game (though I think the PvP experience in DS2 is the best in the series), because it had its fair share of issues (ADAPTABILITY AS A SKILL WHYYYY), but it felt like the devs actually tried to take a risk or two. Dark Souls 3 felt like almost all the armor was from Dark Souls 1, or they were flashing things from DS1 in your face going "hey guys remember this? Member???"

I felt the same way with Pokemon X/Y, though not to as massive of a degree. They things they shoved in your face in X/Y from gen 1 was terrible.

Edit: And for what its worth, ignoring the first DLC of DS2, I felt they learned from their mistakes and took the criticism to heart and made two great DLC's that helped the overall product. Now we compare yet for DS3 yet since all the DLC isn't out yet, and there will be more patches along the way, but yeah.
