Yhorm the Giant beaten on the first go.

My brother wanted a turn to play so I had to get off, but I managed to put quite the dent into my game today. 5 bosses bit the dust (Oceiros, Gundyr, Dragonslayer, Yhorm, and Sulyvahn), I leveled up more than 10 times (currently level 83), and I'm one play session away from the armour I so desperately crave (Faraam, located in the Great Archive).

It's my turn to play again in 3 or so hours.

The hardest boss so far has been Vordt of the Boreal Valley, lol. That guy took me FOREVER.

I don't even think I was level 83 when I beat the game because I bought literally everything from every shop  and upgraded hella weapons to +9

I'd upgrade more weapons if I liked more of them. So far I've only liked the Lothric Sword, the Dancer of the Boreal Valley Twin blades and a few Katanas.

I hate the swords you hold on your shoulder. Ugh.

But yeah, my Lothric sword scales hella good with strength and dex so I've been beating bosses with relative ease because of my level. Good to know I'm ahead of the curve in terms of damage output lol.

Is Yhorm a lot more difficult if you don't have Siegward's help? I beat him on my first try and so did my brother.

Yeah, I was going to say... it wasn't THAT hard...

But for the record, the ONLY thing I've been "guided" through was armour locations and acquisition methods (which is basically limited to Faraam's location (which I misjudged as the area after Oceiros) and Alva's set.)

yeah when the game first came out the NPC quests were sooooo hard to do without help because the npcs were at specific locations at specific times so if you went out of order or missed one single interaction you were fucked. And some NPCs just straight up didn't spawn

That must've been frustrating. I hate Day 1 bullshit like that. It's one of the few things I like about the contemporary games industry.

fuck that guy

Not sure if you caught this but Aldrich is actually the black goop shit and not the dude with the bow. He's in the middle of eating the dude with the bow and is controlling his body in the meantime.

Alright, I'm back.

I bought Aldrich's bow. Hope it's better than my dragonrider bow.

Damn, the Great Archive has been the hardest part of the game so far. Those 3 NPCs at the top were difficult as hell.

Finally bought my precious Faraam armour, but... it doesn't look as good as I hoped. Overall the Wolf Knight set is my favourite so far, but right now I'm using full Alva set with the Faraam helmet.

Tried my hand with the brothers but decided to grind a bit more for whatever reason. They aren't that difficult, I just don't have the patience to deal with a boss fight right now lol.

I retraced some areas. Looking over the Lothric Castle I found a cool new sword from killing a mimic... apparently it does Lightning damage, and its special ability raises damage and damage absorbtion for awhile. Pretty neat. I just realised I could perform emotes like Warframe... are there any uses for them? It says on my sword that praising the sun increases damage output but i tried using that emote and nothing happened.

Managed to get to Level 100 before shutting it down. Found Greirat's Ashes, poor guy died from me sending him out. Saved at the Irithyll Dungeon bonfire because there's a few things I missed there. Mimics I need to kill, keys I need to use.

I need to start taking more screenshots. There are times when I'm playing and I'm just like "Damn this is sick." (On the roof of lothric castle before fighting the brothers, there's a solar eclipse with a bunch of tree dragons flying around.)

I'll probably beat this game tomorrow. Which is good and bad but I'm going to do my best not to rush it.

So, does this one take place in the same place as DS1? I remember firelink being a place in that game as well.

Your will revisit a certain area but it mostly it takes place in a different place that is quite close to the locale of DaS1. Like a neighbouring kingdom if you will.

Likewise for everything else, there are lore reasons as to why they are so near to each other.

The Firelink Shrine here is completely different from the one in DaS1.

Oh ok

Is there really any info on how lordran(I think that was DS1's place) and drangleic and (DS3 location) interacted with each other or whatever at their prime?

The way how DaS2 relates to 3 is really a headscratcher. As Miyazaki wasn't involved in its development, since he was working on Bloodborne, the story took a drastic deviation from 1. It's best to assume that DaS2 had almost no effect on the overarching lore of the series given the very, very few references to it in DaS3 and the convenient explanation that it's an alternate realm altogether provided by the intro cutscene of DaS2.

On the other hand references to 1 and are everywhere and even unavoidable in 3. More or less quick summary:
The flame is fading and needes undead with special souls to link it, like the protagonist of DaS1. But as time goes on less and less undead are fit to link the flame and as a desperate measure previous lords of cinders, those who have already given themselves to the flame, are awakened from the dead to act as fuel yet again. They refuse. So instead the Unkindled Ashes, the undead unfit to link the flame, are sendt out to inherit the cinders of the lords so they could link the flame again, somehow.
Lothric is in the center of all this as it's the link to of the first flame and graveyard of the Unkindled Ashes.

Hope this somehow helps - if you've got further questions or want to know about something precisely don't be afraid to ask.
