That's right, I played the original on its original hardware. None of that remastered shit or MCC. Just looking at the title screen, I couldn't help but think "How the fuck did such a franchise with a simple premise become such a massive clusterfuck?"

Halo CE was simple but fun with its first game, with good gameplay, great story telling, and an excellent soundtrack, granted the multiplayer wasn't huge in the first game, but believe it or not, there was a time where people didn't buy a game for its multiplayer only, this game was purely bought for the campaign, and multiplayer in this was suppose to be like a party game with friends, and that's what it was before MLG was even a thing.

Just looking back at this game and even trying to compare it to Halo 5 is almost fucking impossible, Halo now has an identity crisis and its very nature has really dropped a new low.

People are right. The Halo Franchise is dead. There will never be another game like Halo CE again, or Halo 2, or Halo 3 even. Which is why I'm glad that they happened and we still have the games to enjoy.

And to anyone who's never really played through the original trilogy and has an interest in the story, if you want a pure unaltered experience, I strongly recommend getting and playing each game on its native hardware, but if you want it all on one system, MCC is a great way to play through the entire original trilogy.

R.I.P Halo. I just have a feeling Halo 6 is going to be nothing more but a late abortion of a Halo game.

Personally, I was 10 years old, played the demo on my OG Xbox back in 2002/2003, but I didn't get the game until I was 12.

My mother bought me a handful of games including Halo CE for the OG Xbox in 2009 I believe. I loved the game and decided to buy the rest of the trilogy.  It's what got me into gaming and why I'm even here right now.

i grew up playing games like mario and zelda on NES, so when i played halo for the first time with friends in 2003 or something, it was the beginning of the end for me in terms of how i perceived video games

in that they're all fun and enjoyable

halo may have been the first game i ever played that i outright did not enjoy at all whatsoever, and it pissed me off how my friends gave up on fun stuff like pokémon just so they could play games like halo, san andreas, and a bunch of rated M games they were far too young to play, but they were still allowed because they had a shitty upbringing

when i came to terms with it all, and halo 2 eventually came out, i wound up enjoying myself more with that one, because you could play as an alien and you could use the energy sword, but whenever we played, i was just clamoring to back to my pokémon

I rented it from a Hollywood Video in 2002 and then got it a few months later. Played 4 player splitscreen with a few friends a couple of times and that was my first introduction to fps multiplayer. Eventually got around to getting live after Halo 2 came out but I had already experienced matchmaking plenty of times at a friend's house.

I was always more into single player games, though. My fav xbox original title is still Panzer Dragoon: Orta.

Goldeneye was my first FPS, then Perfect Dark and I was introduced to Halo's multiplayer and I instantly fell in love.

CE holds a lot of nostalgia for me. Oh the hours wasted on BC Raceway, Yoyorast Island, CMT Snow Grove, Haloball, Bob-Omb Battlefield, Hugeass, Coldsnap, Extinction, etc. in voice chat over the shitty XFire Client.
