- obtain the console- unbox the console- set up the console (power supply + TV connection)- obtain the game- unbox the game- insert the game- set the TV to the right channel / settings- press power button- play
Its necessary if you want to play the game?
- do I have to spend a fair amount of money on an outdated system and game that I might not even like? No.- do I have to spend time searching the internet for a good deal on one and then wait days or weeks for it to be delivered? No.- why is all of this necessary? It isn't.- Would I be better off not spending the time and money and instead rather just take 10 minutes to download it and get the extra emulator options? Perhaps.
Like I said, I'm not interested in debating the ethics of emulators or downloading ROM's.
There is, though. A ROM is just the file format that holds the game's code. It's desgned to only work on and be read by the designated Nintendo system. You need something else, an emulator, to emulate that system / console and run the ROM on it.
ignoring for the moment that an emulator should just come packed with each ROM, unless you specify otherwise

That assumes there's only one emulator out there. There are dozens, depending on the system it's emulating. Also different emulators that work on different architectures. You can't play a Windows emulator on a Mac, a Mac emulator on an iPhone, etc.

But I don't want to be the nerd that carries a PSP everywhere.
Also, it had an actual iPhone too, so it's not like I'm committing Nintendocide.
and by the way, i was saying you don't have to use your phone or your psp--if you're gonna emulate it at all, why couldn't you just download it on PC like a normal thiefi just HATE the idea of jailbreaking phones like HELL, especially for the purpose of doing illegal shit
Because I don't like emulating on PC, controls never feel right. At least on touchscreen/a handheld it doesn't feel completely wrong.
I mean the HTC One is good for games
