Just beat Brawly. That was some divine intervention level shit right there, even moreso than that early Poochyena fight.

I'll describe it down below in a spoiler if you want to read, unless you'd rather wait

After whittling down Hariyama's health with my Dustox, he ended up healing it and nearly killing Dustox so I switched into Zubat. I didn't really have much in the way of offensive capabilities so I just stuck with the Supersonic/Astonish Combo. We were both in red health and I had 2 hp left. He had already used about 2 Bulk Ups so he had a huge attack stat, and would have likely destroyed my team so Zubat was basically my last line of defense. On the final turn I gambled it on a Supersonic and he ended up finishing himself off.

Fucking awesome.

Zigzagoon is a great catch because Pickup was so OP in Gen III.

Always check what he's holding after every battle.

Actually, I'm kinda wrong--Pickup was OP in Ruby and Sapphire, but they nerfed it in Emerald.

This is how it used to work. Any of these items can be picked up anywhere, at any level.

Then they changed it to this, so that you're not picking up Nuggets, Rare Candies, and Full Restores in the beginning of the game.

If I already have a Pokemon and it dies, am I allowed to catch it if its the first Pokemon to appear in a later route?

Like, if your Zigzagoon dies, can you just catch another one?

Yeah, that's okay to do, as long as you're following the rules of course.

Some nuzlockers play with a "duplicates clause" or "dupes clause," where if you encounter something that you already have, you're allowed another chance until you find something new for the sake of team variety--but in this case, you totally want all the Zigzagoon you can get, because Pickup is so good.

Remember that Revives are banned, though. Zigzagoon have a tendency to pick those up quite often. Treat them as free money instead.

YEAH, all the Gen III gyms are pretty fucking brutal. Wattson tends to be one of the worst for everybody.

The biggest heartbreak. I also lost Poochyena and Wingull, but I never really used them anyway. I'm hoping to find another Poochyena or Mightyena later on for Mossdeep.

Also I know I'm doing Pokemon sun as a nuzlock my first time through with some extra rules too. The games are too damn easy otherwise

I'm at Route 111 right now. Ricky is only 3 levels off evolving and Len is level 20. Should I focus on Len so I can beef him up for the Flannery fight? I'm fucking dreading the Torkoal. Might go and catch a Magikarp and evolve it to Gyarados just for the extra water backup.

Overheat Torkoal is super scary, yeah. Definitely train Len. The Magikarp idea is okay, but Tentacool would be even better, because it has that special defense that you need. You can catch them with Old Rods, too. You have plenty of water routes to work with.

If you haven't noticed, you can actually scrape a small portion of Route 107 off the east coast of Dewford, so if you want to help guarantee the chance of catching what you want, there's that.

So far my core team consists of Ricky, Len and Gaz (Golbat)

Not sure how useful Crobat will be later on but Golbat's speed and Bite/Wing Attack combo is pretty damn good right now.

He's pretty much a pushover if you pick Mudkip to start with, but that makes the May/Brandon encounters from Slateport onwards fucking rape dungeons if you don't put in double the leveling grind time compared to normal.
