Mickey didn't so much kill the Rookie, as much as let him get killed, and it really wasn't his fault. He also had no interaction with Sabre team at any point in time as far as we know.

I know you were joking, but just wanted to clear it up in case someone else though Mickey had gone rogue or something.

It's quite clearly metaphorical, considering the bullet says "Traitor", "Hero" and "ONI" on it.
The Reclaimer Saga is about Chief's journey, so he's obviously not going to be killed off in the second game of the Saga.
