How do you rank the Halo games?

I don't include Spartan Assault or Wars because they aren't part of the FPS series. Wars is really good though. How do you rank the Halo games?

How do you find the story in Halo 3 better than the one for Halo CE? For the for first half of the game it's completely random and the levels have no importance to the story. You can remove them and the story would still be the same. With CE the story started the moment you played and each level has a clear focus to it from the start.
