Go to Goodwill or a local thrift store, look around the PCs for a large case, a 450W power supply, hard drives, and RAM. Intel G4560 $80Sapphire RX 460 $95Compatible motherboard $50-60Total: ~$250It's not feasible to get a COTS desktop or parts that will play games for $200. If you scrounge thrift stores for miscellaneous parts, you can spend your budget on the motherboard, CPU, and GPU. If you have a desktop already, you likely have many of those cheap parts you can work with.

Quote from: Prehistoric on July 18, 2017, 06:50:49 PMyour ps4 is also sold at a loss and the loss is made up from developer licensing costs, game sales, and subscriptions like PSN. at this stage in the console life cycle you're really not going to be able to build a more powerful brand spankin new PC for the same price as a a console. you'll have to wait a couple more years for that to be the case and even then with the current market i'm not sure how that'll play out since we have no idea how long chinese bitcoin farms will be causing the price of high end GPUs to rise through the roof. typically your cost saver with a pc is going to be on the long term since you can normally pick up games cheaper on PC than you can on console and you don't have to pay a subscription to play the online portion of most games.
if nothing else, this thread is evidence that most of the benefits pc players spew off is hype and bullshit. so i'm happy about that.
